Abstract
Abstract This chapter provides evidence that sex offenders share many treatment needs with other offenders. It is also argued that clinicians should utilize systemic assessments of risk and needs but these could be augmented by a case‐specific assessment to provide a formulaic understanding of the sexual offences, thereby refining intervention and community supervision approaches. It is further suggested that the field has limited evidence of valid intra‐individual change constructs and measures, necessitating the need for both theoretical advances and empirical research.
