Abstract
O ne important component of CAO's 2006CAO's -2009 strategic plan is prioritizing our internal and external communications.We are concentrating on improved relationships with government, inter and intra professional as well as our optometric students.At several meetings this past year CAO council has been steadily creating opportunities to improve student relations and access for improved communications -'the Key'!Several new initiatives include: Appointing Dr. Henry Smit (NS Councilor to CAO) as our new student relations' liaison. In May 2008 CAO launched a new free student membership opportunity to all North American optometry students available simply by applying through the CAO website.This provides students with access to many CAO on line publications as well as access for inquiries to our head offi ce. At its July meeting CAO Council rati-fi ed a proposal to provide funding for student's 'White Coat Ceremony' at U of W. This 'ceremony' is a historic day for students, as they will receive a white clinic coat signaling the formal crossing of that threshold from 'student' to 'eye doctor health care professional'.This is the day they will don a white clinic coat
