Abstract
Resumen: La Transicin supuso poner fin al monolingismo instaurado por el franquismo y abrir una etapa de reconocimiento a la diversidad lingstica. A pesar de ser un perodo de gran transcendencia, son ms bien escasos los estudios dedicados al tema. En este artculo me he limitado a estudiar las ideologas lingsticas de los lectores del peridico El Pas durante la Transicin, expresadas a travs de su seccin de cartas al director. Las opiniones de los lectores no presentan un tono uniforme, sino que abarcan todo tipo de planteamientos, a menudo antagnicos, desde aspectos generales y tericos (lengua nacional, dialectos, oficialidad), hasta temas ms concretos, tales como la enseanza o los derechos lingsticos, ms habituales durante los primeros aos de democracia. En trminos generales, en las cartas al director publicadas en El Pas dominan las opiniones de los lectores que expresan sus objeciones hacia la diversidad lingstica.
