Abstract
US speciality chemicals firm Chemtura Corp reported year-on-year improvements in both sales and profitability for the first quarter ended 31 March 2014. Net earnings from continuing operations on a GAAP basis were US$10 million for the three-month period, reversing a $18 million loss in 1Q 2013. The company's net sales in 1Q 2014 were $556 million, an increase of 5% from $528 million a year earlier. Operating income was $22 million compared to $2 million in 1Q 2013.
