Abstract
Au Canada, le pourcentage des personnes âgées de 65 ans et plus dans la population active doublera pour passer à 45 % en 2050. Sans changement d’orientation, cette situation pourrait se traduire par davantage de dépenses publiques, par des pénuries de main-d’œuvre et par un ralentissement de la croissance économique. Cet ouvrage examine les principaux obstacles que les travailleurs âgés doivent surmonter dans la vie active. Il évalue la pertinence et l’efficacité des mesures existantes destinées à surmonter ces obstacles et présente un ensemble de recommandations à l’attention des pouvoirs publics et des partenaires sociaux. D’autre part, il apprécie l’équilibre qui existe entre les aides au revenu et les incitations à l’emploi, les méthodes qui visent à encourager les employeurs à recruter des salariés à long terme et, enfin, les mesures garantissant aux travailleurs âgés la possibilité d’être embauchés.
