IRMMW-THz 2019 is held at the « Maison de la Chimie » conference centre in Paris 7th district (arrondissement).This very central location within Paris is easily accessible via many public transportation metros or buses and is ideally located also for visiting and sightseeing the city centre and its numerous attractions.A record number o f over 1000 abstracts from 45 countries were submitted, with over 860 o f them accepted to be presented either orally or in poster sessions.Because of this record number of submissions, we have created an exceptional 7th parallel session on Monday and Tuesday morning, following the daily plenary sessions.The poster sessions will take place at the end o f every afternoon in the middle o f the exhibition area.The 2019 Kenneth Button Prize has been awarded to Dmitri Basov (Columbia Univ., USA) for his discoveries in quantum material physics through infrared spectroscopy and nano-optics.The 2019 Young Scientist Award was attributed to Michael Ruggiero (Univ.o f Vermont, USA) for the spreading o f THz spectroscopy into chemical sciences.The Exceptional Service Award was attributed to Martin Koch (Philipps-Universität Marburg, Germany).This year winner of the best student award will be determined during the conference among the finalists listed later in this booklet.Beyond those IRMMW-THz-society awards, two prizes have been created exceptionally for this 2019 edition, by two o f our generous sponsors: the « GdR NanoTeraMIR » best poster award and the « Swiss TeraHertz » prize.The conference social events include a welcome cocktail on Sunday evening, a gala dinner on the river Seine on Wednesday, a choice o f excursions on Friday afternoon.Last, the Monday and Tuesday poster sessions will be an opportunity to discover and taste some French wines and cheeses.The conference provides lunch boxes everyday but Wednesday and numerous restaurants and bakeries « boulangeries » are accessible at walking distances.The Local Organizing Committee is happy to welcome you in Paris and wishes a very plesant stay at IRMMW-THz 2019! IRMMW-THZ 2019: AN ECO-RESPONSIBLE EVENTThe organization of IRMMW-THz 2019 was made with an eco-responsible mind and we tried as much as possible to reduce our collective environmental footprint. Material for participantsGourds to avoid individual plastic bottles / Wooden USB stick / Recycled organic coton Totebags / Recycled note-books, bamboo pens printings on recycled or PEFC certified paper / Bamboo laynards / Paper badges / invitation cards for the banquet made of « growing paper » (recycled and containing seeds o f flowers) Food We choose meals with reduced animal proteins, organic wines, organic coffee, disposable dish in compostable material.We choose a caterer working with an association to avoid waste of food.
