Abstract
One does not have to believe in Adam and Eve to recognize the significance of an apple. The old saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” has been changed to “an aspirin a day keeps the doctor away” (Fig. 1 ). Worldwide, aspirin is the most used drug. The following pointers indicate why aspirin usage has increased: Most important, aspirin is equally effective in the prevention of acute myocardial infarction (MI) and ischemic, thrombotic stroke in males aged 40–90 and females beyond age 55.
