Abstract
Au Québec et dans plusieurs pays nordiques et anglo-saxons, la montée d’un paradigme androgyne des rapports entre les sexes est mise à profit dans la modernisation du patriarcat. Ce paradigme relève en grande partie d’un désir d’égalité que ne reflète pas la réalité sociale du partage des tâches éducatives des enfants. Il permet par ailleurs d’absorber, au niveau symbolique, certaines revendications féministes. À ce titre, la garde partagée est érigée en nouveau modèle neutre qui masque la pérennité des rapports sociaux de sexe. Mais l’émergence de la garde partagée comme modèle prend aussi ancrage dans de nouvelles pratiques de partage, négociées par des mères qui souhaitaient et qui ont réussi à se dégager, du moins partiellement, de la contrainte à la prise en charge quotidienne de leurs enfants.
