Abstract
The Binta Lake map area is characterized by an extensive cover of till deposited during the Late Wisconsinan Fraser Glaciation. Glaciofluvial sand and gravel are dominantly present in the valleys. Glacial lake sediments, which consist of well sorted fine sand, silt and clay were mapped in the François Lake, Takysie Lake, Ootsanee Lake, and Ootsa Lake valleys. During the last glaciation, ice was generally flowing from west to east and was deflected by topographic high. Ice retreat was generally from east to west with complex ice front configuration. Suficial geology mapping of the Binta Lake map area was completed under the Nechako Natmap Project (1995-2000).
