Abstract
New research research projects include a survey of private woodlot owners in Prince Edward Island (collaboration between the Canadian Forest Service and PEI Agriculture and Forestry and UNB), and a study of socio-economic aspects of selected non-timber forest products (Taxus canadensis, balsam, and cedar oil) in collaboration with the Falls Brook Centre and the Canadian Forest Service.Dr. Beckley was recently appointed to the Canadian Boreal Coordinating Committee of the Forest Stewardship Council and will be involved in helping to create a boreal standard for FSC certification in Canada.Dr. Beckley is also serving on the program committee for the XII World Forestry Congress to be held in Quebec City in September 2003.
