Abstract
Letiche was born in Uman, near Kiev in Russia (now Ukraine) on 11 November 1918. He was educated first at McGill University in Montréal, Canada where he gained a B.A. in 1940 and then an M.A. in 1941. He was the Allen Oliver Fellowship at McGill in 1941–2.
