Abstract
La multiplication des festivals ces deux derniers sicles, et leur production comme forme de participation la vie artistique, culturelle, conomique, sociale, urbaine/ rurale, questionnent. Pour preuve, la recherche francophone en sciences sociales s'est dj penche sur divers lments : l'histoire du terme festival et les origines et volutions des festivals 1 , la comparaison internationale de ceux-ci 2 , ainsi que la mise plat du processus nomm festivalisation 3 . La musique est souvent en premire ligne dans ces tudes. Dans l'ouvrage de Jonathan R. Wynn, le festival de musique devient un objet de recherche, quand celui-ci est habituellement apprhend comme un lment de situation du terrain. Il nous propose alors de considrer les festivals tudis en tant que point de rencontre entre musique et ville.
