Abstract

Sollicité à deux reprises par Greenpeace, l’artiste Spencer Tunick a photographié des volontaires nus sur le glacier d’Aletsch en Suisse et dans le vignoble des Rontets en France. À partir des images prises in situ , des récits des bénévoles et des campagnes de communication de l’ONG, cet article interroge la contribution de ces rassemblements humains au débat public sur les questions environnementales. Une analyse de la rhétorique esthétique des corps dénudés comme incarnation de la vulnérabilité montre d’une part comment l’engagement physique et psychologique des participants joue un rôle primordial dans ces installations artistiques et militantes. D’autre part, ces performances s’inscrivent dans le savoir-faire communicationnel de Greenpeace où l’image est utilisée comme preuve des méfaits environnementaux et moyen d’interpellation.
