Abstract
This entry discusses international networks of women active between the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Emphasis is placed on differences between movements and the challenges of identifying any singular movement. Special attention is given to eugenic connections, links between motherhood and nationalism, issues of eurocentrism in scholarship, and significant occlusions that occurred within these historical movements and also within the histories of these movements. Major organizations discussed include the World Women's Christian Temperance Union, the International Women's Suffrage Alliance, and the Second International's women's branch.
