Abstract
Kegiatan PKM dengan Judul Pemanfaatan ruang publik kampung kreatif dengan konsep vertical garden di kelurahan Dukuh Menanggal, Gayungan, Surabaya bertujuan untuk membantu masyarakat dalam hal pengelolaan sampah dan ruang publik yang sudah ada. Salah satu limbah rumah tangga yang kerap kali ditemui adalah botol plastik, limbah ini kerap kali ditemui di saluran irigasi maupun sungai disekitar tempat tinggal warga. Belum terlihat pengetahuan terkait pengolahan limbah plastik ini pada skala rumah tangga dan komunal serta manajemen pengelolaan sampah terorganisir oleh aparat pemerintah kelurahan maupun kelompok PKK karang taruna di kelurahan Dukuh Menanggal. Melalui pengamatan awal, beberapa masalah yang tampak terkait pengelolaan sampah plastik dan penggunaan ruang terbuka publik diantaranya adalah: Masyarakat kurang memaksimalkan penggunaan ruang terbuka publik yang sudah ada. Keterbatasan pengolahan lahan yang ada untuk menjadikannya ruang terbuka hijau. Belum ada kesadaran masyarakat terkait pengolahan limbah plastik untuk menjadi barang yang bernilai ekonomis. Masyarakatnya belum memiliki pemahaman terkait manfaat yang besar dibalik pembuatan vertical garden ini. Belum ada suatu bentuk usaha memanfaatkan sampah botol plastik menjadi vertical garden. Mitra dalam pekajsanaan PKM ini adalah kelompok PKK Kecamatan Gayungsari, Kelompok Karang Taruna dan Aparat Kelurahan Dukuh Menanggal di Kecamatan Gayungan Kota Surabaya. Menilik pada justifikasi prioritas penanganan bersama mitra, maka solusi utama yang perlu diterapkan adalah (1) Pengetahuan manajemen pengelolaan limbah sampah plastik yang tergorganisir untuk menjadi barang bernilai ekonomi dan (2) Penerapan vertical garden sebagai solusi pemaksimalan penggunaan ruang terbuka publik di kelurahan Dukuh Menanggal.
