Abstract
Michael of Cornwall was a poet of the mid‐thirteenth century, known to us today chiefly for his “flyting” – exchange of elaborate, poetic insults – with Henry of Avranches. There are four surviving poetry contests associated with Henry. Michael's is considered to be the most virtuosic of all of these. In this case, only Michael's side of the flyting survives.
