Abstract
To the Editor: The conclusion of the study titled “Multiple Myeloma Mortality among African American Coal Miners” is that the authors found an association of coal dust exposure and multiple myeloma among African American miners, whereas no association was observed among white miners and multiple myeloma. Our study1 population primarily comprised men of European descent. Hence, it is not possible for us to evaluate the relationship between multiple myeloma and coal dust exposure stratified by ethnicity.
