Canadian-based Hydrogenics has won an order for a 1 MW hydrogen energy storage system to be deployed in the German city of Hamburg. Hydrogenics’ energy storage application will employ advanced proton-exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyser technology to produce hydrogen, using excess power generated from renewable energy in the region, primarily wind.
