Abstract
Considérant le sujet anthropologique genré à l’intersection du global et du local, l’auteure aborde le processus d’installation desmaquiladorasdans la campagne au Nord de l’État du Yucatan au Mexique. Ce processus constitue l’une des dimensions qu’emprunte la mondialisation dans cette région. Le capital est clairement à la recherche d’une main-d’oeuvre à bon marché et le propos de l’article consiste en une interrogation sur la dynamique de dévalorisation de la main-d’oeuvre des Mayas yucatèques. Les données, analysées dans une perspective d’économie politique, contribuent à montrer que la restructuration économique actuelle s’appuie, sur le plan local, sur des différences historiquement construites de genre, d’ethnicité et de génération. La combinaison particulière de ces trois facteurs contribue à donner au processus de mondialisation au Yucatan une allure particulière. Malgré le fait que la discrimination ethnique et que les fractures générationnelles constituent des facteurs importants de dévalorisation de la main-d’oeuvre, les inégalités de genre, consolidées et renouvelées par l’État patriarcal, en constituent le facteur le plus prégnant.
