Abstract
Ce travail est un essai de synthèse sur l'historiographie italienne de l'après-guerre. Au début des années 1950, l'interprétation gramscienne du Risorgimento prenait la place de l'historiographie politique des années 1920 et 1930. La lecture fortement idéologique des Quaderni de Gramsci amenait à une interprétation de la Révolution française en tant qu'avancement du communisme. Dans la même période, le renouveau de l'historiographie politique traditionnelle portait à une critique de l'attention excessive dédiée au moment extrême de la Révolution, aux dépens d'une étude du « jacobinisme » majoritaire composé surtout par des représentants de la bourgeoisie éclairée. Dans ce cadre, Rosario Romeo et Renzo de Felice reprenaient la grande leçon historiographique de Gioacchino Volpe. Avant Furet, l'historiographie italienne composait sa propre critique de la Révolution française, qui arrivait à démanteler le paradigme monolithique du « jacobinisme >> italien, édifié par Armando Saitta.
