Abstract
The Turke and Sir Gawain is a ballad‐like Gawain romance found only in the Percy Folio (c. 1650), dated through language and spelling features to c. 1500. Sharing certain narrative motifs with Sir Gawain and the Green Knight , this northern poem relates the strange adventures of Gawain and the mysterious “Turke” as they travel from Arthur's court. The romance ends with the revelation of the Turke's identity, and his conversion.
