Notre intention dans l’écriture de cet article consiste, à partir des résultats obtenus et en les expliquant, à exposer l’intérêt d’un dispositif méthodologique exploité dans le cadre d’une recherche destinée à étudier le développement de la compétence de conduite de classe chez les futurs enseignants d’école primaire.Ce dispositif implique d’une part une mise en évidence des actions de conduite de classe effectuée à partir d’une observation in situ des futurs enseignants en activité d’enseignement et d’autre part l’analyse qualitative du corpus des entretiens réalisés auprès de ces futurs enseignants à partir de la méthodologie de la théorie ancrée (grounded theory). Ce dispositif a permis, à partir des actions observées, de mettre en évidence le caractère opérationnel de la compétence de conduite de classe chez les futurs enseignants. L’analyse de données récoltées lors des entretiens, par la théorisation ancrée, a apporté des éléments de connaissance à propos de la mise en oeuvre de ces actions et éclairé le processus de réflexion développé par les futurs enseignants. Pour résumer, ce dispositif a aidé à comprendre la genèse de la compétence de conduite de classe chez les futurs enseignants d’école primaire.
