Abstract
En 2006, une étroite association de chercheurs universitaires avec les membres d’une communauté algonquine a permis l’élaboration d’un projet de recherche-action participative sur plusieurs années et sa mise en branle. Le but était de faire émerger les besoins des parents d’enfants scolarisés pour la toute première fois de leur histoire dans leur communauté d’origine et de tenter d’y répondre pour le mieux-être des familles et de la population. Cette recherche se caractérise par la formation d’assistantes de recherche algonquines et la mise sur pied d’un comité de suivi de la recherche. Ce dernier, composé autant de membres chercheurs que de porte-parole de la communauté, autochtones et non-autochtones, est voué à prendre des décisions quant aux chemins à privilégier dans la perspective de proposer un programme permettant de répondre aux principaux besoins identifiés des parents et auxquels les services déjà en place ne répondent pas. Cette recherche se poursuivra jusqu’en 2010. Cet article rend compte de la phase 1 de la recherche de septembre 2006 à octobre 2007.
