Dans « Et si l’animal répondait ? », Jacques Derrida poursuit un différend avec Jacques Lacan au sujet de la trace, du signifiant, de la feinte de feinte, de la réponse opposée à la réaction, toutes choses que le psychanalyste dénie à l’animal. Nous examinons ici la réponse donnée par Derrida à cette question à partir de trois cas d’« espèces » aussi différents qu’« inouïs », tels qu’ils se donnent à entrelire dans son « tête-à-tête » avec les Primati de Camilla Adami et deux autres animots présents dans son dernier Séminaire La bête et le souverain . Nous retiennent particulièrement dans ces affabulations d’un autre genre les questions de la représentation, de la ressemblance et de la prosopopée.
