<titre>Résumé</titre>Les processus cognitifs et les processus sensorimoteurs interagissent au cours de la pratique d’habiletés motrices, avec des conséquences sur la performance, la rétention et le transfert d’apprentissage. Certains travaux montrent que l’implication d’un effort cognitif (sollicité par les conditions de pratique ou l’autocontrôle de la situation par l’apprenant) améliore l’apprentissage. Cependant, la conscientisation de l’action et la focalisation de l’attention sur son exécution ont le plus souvent des effets négatifs sur la performance et l’apprentissage moteur, ce qui conforte l’hypothèse d’un dualisme fonctionnel entre l’esprit cognitif et le corps moteur. Cet article présente les travaux récents dans cette problématique et suggère qu’un facteur important réside dans la difficulté de la tâche à apprendre (relative au niveau d’expertise ou aux déficits moteurs de l’apprenant) qui module les effets des conditions de pratique. Quand le niveau de difficulté de la tâche et des conditions de pratique peut être choisi par l’apprenant, l’apprentissage est le plus généralement optimisé. Ces données doivent être prises en considération pour l’aménagement des conditions de pratique pour l’apprentissage ou la réhabilitation.
