Abstract
AAA APPOINTS DIRECTOR OF HEALTHCARE POLICY McLEAN, VA— The American Academy of Audiology (AAA) has appointed Wendy Smith Fuss as director of healthcare policy. This new position was created to develop the academy's healthcare policy and government relations initiatives. Most recently, Fuss served as director of healthcare policy for the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, and before that was with the Society of Nuclear Medicine. In her position at AAA, Fuss will monitor, report, and influence federal and state healthcare policy and legislation; provide analysis of health policy/legislation to determine the impact on the practice of audiology; collaborate with leadership to develop position statements, comments, and testimony on relevant policy issues; and educate the membership on reimbursement and practice management policies. Fuss holds a master's of public health from Johns Hopkins University and a BS from Rutgers University. She is a member of the American Society of Association Executives and is active in the Falls Hill Civic Association. AUDIOLOGIST TO CHAIR BOARD MADISON, WI— Governor Scott McCallum has appointed Gerard Kupperman, PhD, of Waukesha, WI, to a second term on the Wisconsin State Hearing and Speech Examining Board, which regulates approximately 1500 audiologists, speech/language pathologists, and hearing instrument specialists. A certified audiologist with Hearing Services Limited, Kupperman has served on the board since 1997 and was re-elected as its chairman earlier this year.
