The movement of primary care and public health to the centre stage of national and international health and social care requires an everstronger evidence base for practice. There is increasing demand for practitioners to evaluate and implement research findings within a context of rapidly changing health and social care policy. This conference will provide an opportunity to debate the realities of this shifting environment, to assess the impact of research on practice, and to explore possible future primary care and public health research.
