Pour ce numéro, nous vous offrons une entrevue avec Jules Brodeur, médecin et toxicologue qui a été un pilier dans le domaine de la toxicologie industrielle au Québec et ailleurs dans le monde. C’est pourtant dans le domaine de la pharmacologie qu’a débuté sa carrière à la fin des années 50. D’abord professeur au département de pharmacologie de l’université de Montréal, il se consacre à la recherche fondamentale pendant de nombreuses années. En 1976, il devient le directeur du département de médecine du travail et d’hygiène des milieux, un milieu de formation pour les professionnels de la médecine du travail, de la toxicologie industrielle et de la santé environnementale.Auteur de plus d’une centaine d’articles et de près de 150 communications scientifiques, il a toujours cependant eu à cœur son mandat de formation. Il a ainsi supervisé les travaux de plus 40 étudiants gradués à la maîtrise et au doctorat et vu près de 110 étudiants diplômés du Diplôme d’Études Supérieures en Toxicologie qu’il a instauré à ce département. Jules Brodeur s’est mérité au cours de sa carrière de nombreux prix et nominations, mais les personnes qui l’ont côtoyé vous diront que sa gentillesse, son ardeur au travail et sa grande disponibilité sont ce qu’on l’on retient avant tout de lui. À la retraite depuis un an, la revue PISTES a voulu le rencontrer pour qu’il nous explique son cheminement de carrière et ses réflexions actuelles sur la toxicologie industrielle.
