Abstract
En moins d'une décennie, les cinémas multiplexes se sont imposés dans tout le territoire français. Objet de toutes les critiques, des plus flatteuses aux plus acerbes, les multiplexes sont désignés tantôt comme les sauveurs du cinéma en salles, tantôt comme les fossoyeurs de l'exception culturelle... Ce numéro entend en dévoiler les ressorts par l'exploration de leurs liens avec le territoire. De l'Angleterre au Québec et à la Lorraine, le multiplexe agit comme un révélateur des territoires contemporains, de leurs tensions, de leur mutation et leur résistance sous l'action des logiques économiques et culturelles uniformisantes.
