Albemarle Corp reported first-quarter 2003 net income of US$21.0 million, up substantially from $16.8 million for the first three months of 2002. On a period-to-period comparison, the first-quarter operating results for 2003 reflect higher sales volumes, reduced manufacturing fixed costs and the positive effects of foreign exchange, offset by higher energy and raw materials costs and lower pricing in certain businesses.This is a short news story only.
