Abstract
The conference of Rapallo took place on April 16, 1922, between Weimar Germany and Soviet Russia. It led to the conclusion of the Treaty of Rapallo which provided for the reestablishment of diplomatic and economic relations and the writing off of all territorial and financial claims and counter‐claims arising from World War I. Germany and Soviet Russia were thus able to overcome their isolation in Europe; the one because of its defeat in the war, the other because of having created a socialist Russian state. The “Rapallo” relationship lasted until 1933 when Adolf Hitler came to power in Germany.
