Souvenons-nous que l’ingénieux gentilhomme « passait ses heures d’oisiveté, c’est-à-dire le plus clair de son temps, plongé avec ravissement dans la lecture des romans de chevalerie. […] Il se donnait avec un tel acharnement à ses lectures qu’il y passait ses nuits et ses jours, du soir jusqu’au matin et du matin jusqu’au soir. » Resulto fatal : « Il dormait si peu et lisait tellement que son cerveau se dessécha et qu’il finit par perdre la raison. » Comme on sait, il garda si bien en tête la lettre de ses romans qu’il se fit chevalier errant et se mit à lire le monde et sa propre vie au filtre de ce qu’il avait lu. Dans ce motif des mauvaises lectures, capital dans l’incipit de L’ingénieux hidalgo Don Quichotte de la Manche de Miguel de Cervantes, le Colloque des mauvaises lectures voit l’un des actes fondateurs de la modernité littéraire, voire de la littérature tout court. Nous irons en amont et en aval du Quichotte et nous parcourrons le vaste monde dans le but d’ouvrir ce paradigme heuristique des mauvaises lectures, que nous pourront sur l’erre d’aller travestir en méta-paradigme des lectures mauvaises, de manière à parcourir le long segment, semé de nuances intermédiaires, qui va de l’erreur néfaste mais innocente à la malveillance coupable mais triomphante, de l’inadvertance significative au geste délibéré. Et puisqu’il s’agit de sociocritique, nous lirons des textes (ou des objets de langage regardés comme des textes) qui font étalage de ce paradigme. Il en fourmille
