Abstract
This book is moulded out of my own love of literature and sculpture and has entailed numerous enjoyable expeditions to galleries in London, Florence, Naples, Paris and Rome with favourite friends and family members, as well as visits to signifi cant exhibitions such as 'Sculpture Victorious' held at Tate Britain in 2015. However, much of it was written during a time of personal and professional upheaval that thwarted a clear trajectory for its completion and it has often felt as if its textual body were embedded, like one of Michelangelo's 'Prisoners', in a block of marble, never fully to emerge. Many wonderful people have helped me regain the energy and will to chisel it out of its marble cell and I am truly grateful for their kindness. Among these are my partner, Bran Nicol, and my sons, Joe and Sam Pulham, whose constant love and encouragement have meant so much. Along the way, I have also been heartened and inspired by friends and mentors whose career advice and support have been invaluable.

Full frame distilled prediction
Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from it
