Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The symbolic interactionist perspective is presented with a brief history and a discussion of the key theoretical and methodological assumptions to guide social research. After considering its origins and development into the contemporary period, we consider some of the criticisms leveled against it. We then turn to the issue of language and its importance for an interactionist model of the social nature of mind, self, and society. Here, critiques of George Herbert Mead's social learning model of language are considered, and the strengths of an interactionist approach are highlighted. The potential of interactionist studies of language are underscored, as well as related approaches such as dramaturgy and ethnomethodology, which can provide rich explorations of the connection of language to social experience.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
