Abstract
Feminist journalism in nineteenth‐century Britain can be defined as women's press writing that advocated for the transformation of women's social, political, and legal position. Dispersed across the full network of Victorian print media, nineteenth‐century feminist journalism can be organized into two large and generally complementary fields: journalism published in established newspapers and periodicals and broadcast to a wide audience, and journalism produced by and circulated to feminist‐identified writers and readers in specialist titles that often served as the official organs of feminist organizations and sought to gain support for specific initiatives. Both fields of press writing circulated an array of political positions, analyses, and ideas for strategy. Together these fields of feminist journalism constitute the multifaceted networks of affiliation, competition, and debate that are Victorian feminism.
