Dans un poème intitulé « Sweeney and the Scholars », Lucy Brennan, poète d’origine irlandaise vivant au Canada, fait dialoguer le personnage de Sweeney Geilt, le mystérieux roi poète métamorphosé en oiseau et condamné à la folie et à l’errance, avec trois hommes de lettres : le théologien jésuite Bernard Lonergan, le moine philosophe Jean Scot Érigène et l’écrivain Samuel Beckett.
