A partir de la minutieuse reconstitution des circonstances du séjour de Nietzsche à Sorrente à l’automne 1876, menée à partir d’une convocation minutieuse de témoignages et correspondances de proches, des écrits et carnets de Nietzsche, mais aussi de photos d’époque et de reproductions de manuscrits, l’auteur parvient à cerner avec précision et profondeur certains motifs essentiels du revirement philosophique qui conduira à la publication de Choses humaines, trop humaines en 1878.
