Abstract
Naomi Klein is a Canadian‐born journalist and author of the bestsellers No Logo: Taking Aim at the Brand Bullies (2000) and The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism (2007). Her writing has been influential within the counter‐globalization movement, of which she is often taken as being a prominent spokesperson. She writes a regular column for the Nation and the Guardian , syndicated internationally by the New York Times . In 2002 a collection of her journalism was published in the book Fences and Windows: Dispatches from the Front Lines of the Globalization Debate . Proceeds from the book were used to support social movements, through the Fences and Windows Fund. She wrote and co‐produced, with Avi Lewis, The Take (2004), a film about worker‐controlled factories in Argentina occupied following the economic crisis of 2001. In 2005 Prospect magazine listed her 11th in a readers' poll of the world's 100 most important living intellectuals.
