Abstract Retail — General (MIC: 5.2 SIC: 5331 NAIC: 452990) Wal‐Mart Stores operated 1,224 discount department stores, 1,929 Supercenters, 558 Sam's Clubs and 97 Neighborhood Markets in the U.S. as of Jan 31 2006. Co. also operated in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Japan, Mexico, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, South Korea, and the U.K. Co.'s supercenters combine food, general merchandise, and services including pharmacy, dry cleaning, portrait studios, photo finishing, hair salons, medical clinics and optical shops. In addition, Co. owned a majority share in Seiyu, Ltd., which operates over 400 stores throughout Japan.
