Abstract
Abstract Multiculturalism, or the political accommodation of minorities, became a major demand in the last quarter of the twentieth century, especially in Anglophone countries, particularly in relation to postimmigrant groups; by early into the twenty‐first century in Western Europe it was associated with Muslims, and as a result its demise was announced. Yet it is doubtful if Western Europe can integrate its growing Muslim population without some element of top‐down, if not bottom‐up, religiomulticulturalism.
