Este artigo reúne noções, teorias e dados buscando compreender como se articulam as novas formas degovernança do território, através das estratégias institucionais e organizacionais dos atores locais para mobilizaçãodos ativos territoriais específi cos, em projetos de desenvolvimento local. Este estudo propõe uma base teóricaaplicada para estudos que buscam compreender como se expressam as organizações e as instituições, seus atorese agentes nos ambientes da estrutura de governança territorial, tendo em vista os vários contextos sócio-espaciaise territoriais em curso no Brasil. Desse modo, os Arranjos Produtivos Locais (APL) e os Circuitos Turísticos aparecemcomo estratégias inovadoras de governança territorial dado o caráter próprio de confi guração da relação entreEstado, iniciativa privada e outras instituições sociais.
