Abstract
Yun Wang was born in China, and attended Tsinghua University at the age of sixteen. Her poems were featured twice in Tsinghua Literature (Qing Hua Wen Xue ). She edited two poetry anthologies while at Tsinghua, Cadenza (Hua Cai ), and April (Si Yue ). She won second prize in the first Beijing Universities' Poetry Competition. She published poems in The Ugly Duckling (Chou Xiao Ya ), and a number of campus literary journals in Beijing. Her poems were often hand-copied and then circulated among the college students in China in the 1980s. She began writing poetry in English shortly after arriving in the United States for graduate school in Physics in 1985.Yun Wang's second poetry book, The Book of Totality, will be published by Salmon Poetry in 2014. Her first poetry book, The Book of Jade (Story Line Press, 2002), won the Nicholas Roerich Poetry Prize. Her poetry chapbook, The Carp, was published by Bull Thistle Press in 1994. She has published poems in numerous literary journals, including the Kenyon Review, Cimarron Review, Green Mountains Review, International Quarterly, Poet Lore, and many others. Her translations of classical Chinese poetry have been published in Poetry Canada, Willow Springs, Confluence, and Connotation Press.
