Abstract
Cet article propose une lecture attentive aux perturbations qui agitent les univers de quatre ouvrages de Lise Tremblay. Parfois destructeurs, parfois libérateurs, ces bouleversements donnent lieu à une mise en évidence des résistances associées aux discours et aux valeurs des lieux, et en particulier des lieux régionaux. Dans La héronnière, la perturbation semble provenir de l’extérieur, des « étrangers » : les femmes du village émigrent vers la ville alors même que les néoruraux semblent prendre possession des lieux. Dans La soeur de Judith, la maison familiale et son quartier résidentiel forment un espace discursif clos dominé par un régime de valeurs nourri au commérage superstitieux, à la bigoterie et à la honte, univers dont la narratrice adolescente est sur le point de s’extraire. Chemin Saint-Paul propose quant à lui une archéologie des traumatismes intergénérationnels familiaux par laquelle la narratrice réconcilie son exil géographique avec sa venue à l’écriture. Une sorte d’apaisement accompagne enfin la résolution du conflit central du roman L’habitude des bêtes, alors que les résistances ataviques cessent de percevoir la norme extérieure, « étrangère » aux valeurs du locus, comme une source de perturbations à combattre.
