Abstract
Abstract The site to the northwest of Thessalonike, which is identified with ancient Sindos, was inhabited from the Early Bronze Age to the Byzantine period. The richest archaeological layers found at the settlement date from the Late Geometric period, during which Sindos may have functioned as a Euboean trading post. Although later habitation layers are poorly preserved, mortuary evidence suggests that a new phase of prosperity began in the second quarter of the sixth century bce , when the site was annexed into the Macedonian kingdom.
