Abstract
Este artículo hace balance de las características de los donantes emergentes en África y de los desafíos a los que se enfrentan. El estudio de caso explora el posicionamiento de Brasil como socio para el desarrollo en África, centrándose en Ghana, un país a menudo considerado «mimado por los donantes» (donor darling). A partir de una investigación cualitativa sobre la relación bilateral desde el inicio del nuevo siglo, el estudio ilustra un conjunto de dificultades para Brasil a la hora de competir con otros proveedores de ayuda. Ante las ventajas financieras de China y de los donantes occidentales, Brasil estableció su cooperación en el nicho de los programas agrícolas. Sin embargo, la posición normativa y técnica de este enfoque no consiguió abarcar las expectativas divergentes y Brasil, finalmente, reenfocó su compromiso con África hacia su ventaja competitiva en el África lusófona.
