Abstract
Cet article présente des éléments de recherche collectés au travers un travail d'une enquête de terrain réalisée à l'intérieur de la Région Occitanie. Pour cette région, la recherche s'est particulièrement attachée à travailler sur le sujet des chansonniers. Au moins pour une période récente, l'ensemble des productions chansonnières, donne une place importante au français. À l'intérieur de cette catégorie la complainte criminelle n'échappe pas à cette règle.La valorisation du français comme langue du religieux et de la moralité, apparaît dans le protestantisme, religion dont l'histoire irrigue les pays d'oc. En opposition, ou en complémentarité, de l'esprit moraliste du français, l'occitan du quotidien, s'adapte davantage aux moments de transgression et d'ivresse, par exemple lors des carnavals ou des charivaris.
