Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

There exist results on the connection between the theory of wavelets and the theory of integral self-affine tiles and in particular, on the construction of wavelet bases using integral self-affine tiles. However, there are many non-integral self-affine tiles which can also yield wavelet basis. In this work, we give a complete characterization of all one and two dimensional <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" alttext="upper A"> <mml:semantics> <mml:mi>A</mml:mi> <mml:annotation encoding="application/x-tex">A</mml:annotation> </mml:semantics> </mml:math> </inline-formula> -dilation scaling sets <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" alttext="upper K"> <mml:semantics> <mml:mi>K</mml:mi> <mml:annotation encoding="application/x-tex">K</mml:annotation> </mml:semantics> </mml:math> </inline-formula> such that <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" alttext="upper K"> <mml:semantics> <mml:mi>K</mml:mi> <mml:annotation encoding="application/x-tex">K</mml:annotation> </mml:semantics> </mml:math> </inline-formula> is a self-affine tile satisfying <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" alttext="upper B upper K equals left-parenthesis upper K plus d 1 right-parenthesis union left-parenthesis upper K plus d 2 right-parenthesis"> <mml:semantics> <mml:mrow> <mml:mi>B</mml:mi> <mml:mi>K</mml:mi> <mml:mo>=</mml:mo> <mml:mo stretchy="false">(</mml:mo> <mml:mi>K</mml:mi> <mml:mo>+</mml:mo> <mml:msub> <mml:mi>d</mml:mi> <mml:mn>1</mml:mn> </mml:msub> <mml:mo stretchy="false">)</mml:mo> <mml:mo> ⋃ </mml:mo> <mml:mo stretchy="false">(</mml:mo> <mml:mi>K</mml:mi> <mml:mo>+</mml:mo> <mml:msub> <mml:mi>d</mml:mi> <mml:mn>2</mml:mn> </mml:msub> <mml:mo stretchy="false">)</mml:mo> </mml:mrow> <mml:annotation encoding="application/x-tex">BK=(K+d_1)\bigcup (K+d_2)</mml:annotation> </mml:semantics> </mml:math> </inline-formula> for some <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" alttext="d 1 comma d 2 element-of double-struck upper R squared"> <mml:semantics> <mml:mrow> <mml:msub> <mml:mi>d</mml:mi> <mml:mn>1</mml:mn> </mml:msub> <mml:mo>,</mml:mo> <mml:msub> <mml:mi>d</mml:mi> <mml:mn>2</mml:mn> </mml:msub> <mml:mo> ∈ </mml:mo> <mml:msup> <mml:mrow class="MJX-TeXAtom-ORD"> <mml:mi mathvariant="double-struck">R</mml:mi> </mml:mrow> <mml:mn>2</mml:mn> </mml:msup> </mml:mrow> <mml:annotation encoding="application/x-tex">d_1,d_2\in \mathbb {R}^2</mml:annotation> </mml:semantics> </mml:math> </inline-formula> , where <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" alttext="upper A"> <mml:semantics> <mml:mi>A</mml:mi> <mml:annotation encoding="application/x-tex">A</mml:annotation> </mml:semantics> </mml:math> </inline-formula> is a <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" alttext="2 times 2"> <mml:semantics> <mml:mrow> <mml:mn>2</mml:mn> <mml:mo> × </mml:mo> <mml:mn>2</mml:mn> </mml:mrow> <mml:annotation encoding="application/x-tex">2\times 2</mml:annotation> </mml:semantics> </mml:math> </inline-formula> integral expansive matrix with <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" alttext="StartAbsoluteValue det upper A EndAbsoluteValue equals 2"> <mml:semantics> <mml:mrow> <mml:mo fence="false" stretchy="false"> | </mml:mo> <mml:mo movablelimits="true" form="prefix">det</mml:mo> <mml:mi>A</mml:mi> <mml:mo fence="false" stretchy="false"> | </mml:mo> <mml:mo>=</mml:mo> <mml:mn>2</mml:mn> </mml:mrow> <mml:annotation encoding="application/x-tex">\lvert \det A\rvert =2</mml:annotation> </mml:semantics> </mml:math> </inline-formula> and <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" alttext="upper B equals upper A Superscript t"> <mml:semantics> <mml:mrow> <mml:mi>B</mml:mi> <mml:mo>=</mml:mo> <mml:msup> <mml:mi>A</mml:mi> <mml:mi>t</mml:mi> </mml:msup> </mml:mrow> <mml:annotation encoding="application/x-tex">B=A^t</mml:annotation> </mml:semantics> </mml:math> </inline-formula> .

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
