Un lecteur de la Revue internationale d'éducation de Sèvres ne peut que s'intéresser à un ouvrage qui s'inscrit dans la continuité de travaux théoriques sur la notion de comparaison (internationale, mais pas seulement) en éducation : cette seconde édition renouvelle en effet largement, au regard de l'évolution des mondes scolaires de par le monde, ce qui était initialement inspiré par les travaux de Bray et Thomas en 1995 et par la publication de leur fameux « cube » (A Framework for Comparative Education Analyses).
