Abstract
Note from the Editor Clare Anderson In this issue I am delighted to welcome Professor Adele Perry as the journal's new book review editor. Adele is Canada Research Chair in Western Canadian Social History at the University of Manitoba, where she has taught since 2000. She has a PhD in history from York University (Toronto) and has published on Canadian, women's, and colonial histories. Perry is especially interested in gender and colonialism in the nineteenth-century imperial world, particularly in North America, and is interested in locating Canada and other settler colonies in global analyses of empire. She is in the process of completing a monograph length study that uses an elite, Creole/Métis family that moved between Guyana, the United Kingdom, and around North America to analyze the changing politics of gender, race, and intimacy in the British Empire over the course of the long nineteenth century. Adele replaces outgoing reviews editor Professor Durba Ghosh (Cornell), who I would like to thank for all her hard work during previous years.
