Annual energy consumption in Manitoba was 6,690 ktoe for the 2013–15 period, a 10% increase compared to 1995–97 levels. Resources can include: Three years after B.C. Hydro introduced its Power Smart program, Manitoba Hydro adopted its own version of the energy conservation program. Centra Gas Manitoba Inc. distributes, stores, and transports natural gas in Manitoba. The company was formerly known as ICG Utilities Ltd., but changed its name to Centra Gas Manitoba Inc. in January 1991. Sustainable Building Manitoba Inc. was incorporated in 2005 as a nonprofit organization. The Manitoba branch of the Consumers' Association of Canada is an independent, nonprofit, volunteer organization working to inform and empower consumers. EE also contributes to several other important economic, social and environmental goals in Manitoba, such as: Released in December 2015, the Manitoba Climate Change and Green Economy Action Plan committed Manitoba to adopting a cap-and-trade program for large industrial emitters to be linked with the Ontario and Quebec cap-and-trade system.
